The B Strong Group Hosts a Community Blood Drive Event: “Tis the Season to B a Life Saver”
Columbia, SC (December 29, 2023) The B Strong Group will host a community Blood Drive on Friday, December 29, 2023, from 11 am until 4 pm at the American Red Cross, 2751 Bull St., Columbia, SC. The theme is “Tis the Season to B a Life Saver”.
Blood donors will receive an Amazon e-gift card (via email), a long-sleeved Red Cross Holiday Edition t-shirt, and a The B Strong Group swag bag. Blood donors at this event can also join The B Strong Group’s exclusive blood donor team: Braden’s Buddies. Approximately 4,500 people with sickle cell disease currently live in South Carolina. There is a critical need for blood and for sickle cell awareness. This is the mission of The B Strong Group and the purpose of its Founders.
“Hosting a blood drive coincides with The B Strong Group’s core values of giving back to the community,” said Brenda Green, Founder & CEO. “With a simple blood donation, we have the ability to help save the life of someone who could be a coworker, loved one, or neighbor.”
Blood is routinely transfused to patients with sickle cell disease, cancer and other diseases, premature babies, organ transplant recipients, and trauma victims, according to the Red Cross.
“The short amount of time it takes to donate can mean a lifetime to a patient with a serious medical condition. We urge eligible donors to join us in the selfless act of giving blood.”
Donors of all blood types are needed, especially those with types O negative, B negative, and A negative. According to the Red Cross, type O negative is the universal blood type that can be safely transfused to anyone and is often used to treat trauma patients.
